A one-time-only, all-star cast of musicians comes together for “Working Girl Blues: American Roots Songs from the Female Perspective,” part of Ashkenaz’s Women’s History Month celebration. Performers from an array of mostly acoustic styles include Laurie Lewis, Mary Gibbons, the T Sisters, Melody Walker, Allegra & Robin (that’s Allegra Thompson and Robin Fischer), Avery Hellman (granddaughter of Warren Hellman, the late creator of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival), Calliope (featuring Tashina Clarridge and Emily Mann), and Rita Hosking. They’ll collaborate in a variety of groupings from blues and old-timey to folk dance to bluegrass and country, with tunes ranging from Hazel Dickens classics to the traditional “Wagoner’s Lad.” And, as organizer Melody Walker says, there will be “a clusterplucking finale!”
