Gina Astesana (sometimes Jenna Rose) was born in Grass Valley, California. She started playing bluegrass in San Francisco after a close friend introduced her to the music of The Stanley Brothers. She’s a flatpicker and a singer who’d take traditional bluegrass over pretty much anything except perhaps an old country song. Recently she’s made her way north to Seattle where she works as a designer for a family owned design-build firm. Gina has been working with the ladies of her new community to start our Seattle chapter. Be sure to check out her column, “Bluegrass, She Wrote” in the CBA’s monthly paper, The Bluegrass Breakdown.
